Aigars Apinis – Two-time Paralympic Games Champion!

The 2008 Paralympic Games were held in Peking, China, from 6 – 17 September. Among the 18 athletes representing Latvia was well-known and Skrivanek Latvia-sponsored Aigars Apinis. Aigars took the gold in Peking in the men’s discus throw, becoming a two-time Paralympic Games discus champion. Apinis beat his previous record of 19.52 metres and set a new world record with a throw of 20.47 metres. Aigars also took home a medal for his results in the men’s shot put event – a distance of 10.02 metres, earning him 1,098 points and the silver.

The Paralympic Games will take place in Peking, China, from 6 - 17 September.

The training camp will take place from 11 to 24 August 2008, in the Sējas district Sports Centre.

On 16 August 2008, Aigars Apinis will participate in the Latvian Track and Field Championship for the disabled, which will take place in Murjāņi.

The training camp will take place from 14 to 27 July 2008, in the Sējas district Sports Centre.

The training camp will take place from 9 to 22 June 2008, in the Sējas district Sports Centre.

On 17 May 2008, Aigars Apinis will participate in the Riga XXV Open Track and Field Championship for the disabled, which will take place in Murjāņi.

The training camp will take place from 10 to 21 March 2008, in the Sējas district Sports Centre.

The second training camp will take place from 28 April to 11 May 2008, in the Sējas district Sports Centre.

From 1 to 29 February 2008, Aigars will be a juror in the newspaper “Ogres Ziņas” photography competition “2007 Sports Photos”.

On 23 February 2008, Aigars Apinis will participate in the Latvian Open Track and Field Championship for the disabled, which will take place in Murjāņi.
